There were four tortisies in Arran at the weekend – Bruce, Claire and I were joined by Ian who was not running but as he had been camping all weekend, arrived at the start of the race and was given the job of chief cone mover!
Perfect conditions for a race – overcast with very little wind and even a very slight cooling shower half way round.
Very quickly realised although my head was fresh and I was feeling goood after 22 miles on Friday night, my head had yet to convey this message to my legs, which were not responding.
Was passed by Bruce at 7KM who tried in vain to catch Finlay from Irvine and Bruce finished 44:32 with the prize of first M60.
I followed with a 44:55 – happy enough with the time considering the miles I have been putting in.
Claire had a great run with a PB of 52:32 to get 3rd W35 – well done.
Kerry Wilson, who won in 33:01 was 1:45 away from 2nd – great run. Young Roger Naughton also had a great run at 37:15 to finish 6th.
As with all the Arran races – well organised and very welcoming.
