The continued popularity of this run saw us limited to one club team this year.
Taking the team name ‘Do I need to take part’ the mixed relay team of Laura McGarrity, Fraser Mcphail, Leigh Gray and Caroline Mutch left Troon and headed to the Highlands to do battle in club colours.
Laura McGarrity took the first leg a 12.6 mile run from Milngavie to Drymen, continuing her strong running season Laura posted a fantastic run 0f 1hr 33 and was the first runner home on the first leg, Fraser Mcphail picked up the baton then for tough 14.8 mile second leg run taking him up and over the Connich Hill and down into Balmaha and then onto Roweardenna, finishing with a time of 2hr .09, giving a halfway through time of 3hr 41,
Leigh Gray then took the third leg taking him along the picturesque Loch Lomond side from Roweardenna to Beinglas Farm a distance of 13.5 miles, finishing in 2hr 24 and passing onto Caroline Mutch for the final home-word 12.1 miles to Tyndrum, passing through the notorious ‘cow pat alley’ (no explanation required) finishing with a fine sprint Caroline posted a time of 1hr .58th
The Tortoises posted a combined time of 8hr .07.53 therefore finishing fourth overall and a fantastic second in the mixed team category.
Keeping up the fine Tortoise tradition of post recovery hydration much beer and wine was consumed alongside fish suppers in front of a roaring log fire !!
