Today saw eight Tortoise’s brave the weather and head to Irvine to run I believe the 40th annual Harriers v Cyclist cross country, a run with a difference.

This race pits cyclists v runners over a 4.7 mile course, with many up-hills and strategic placing of obstacles where cyclists had to dismount plus plenty of mud to try and level the playing field, I for one would say cycling this race would be more difficult than running it, previous winners include Graeme Obree so a race not to be taken lightly.

Another wee twist is that every person entering is asked to bring a small gift up to a £5 value and at the prize giving every runner is called forward and can choose an item from all the gifts brought by the runners, some are obviously better than others and mine included a Christmas Card to ‘Angela’ so I am guessing this was her unwanted secret Santa, and to be honest I can see why !!

Runners were Gordon Dobbie, George McGregor, Caroline Mutch, Ann Noble, Darrell Dunscombe, Graeme Mckenzie, Ian Mcnee and Jim Phillips, results will be posted on the results page once they are available.
